Testing of ScribeFire
Just testing out ScribeFire, the Firefox add-on that makes it easy to submit new posts to my blog.
While I'm here I may as well comment on the aftermath of the Iowa Caucuses. Now I'm glad Obama won and Hillary came in 3rd. I just don't like anything about her. Before Iowa she was considered the presumptive nominee. But now that Obama won in Iowa, and new polls are showing him tied or slightly ahead in New Hampshire the gloves are starting to come off. In the debates in NH on Saturday Clinton turned up the heat by attacking Obama as a flip-flopper, something she should know all about since she was married to Bill. She has also stated that America should pick her because she has been an agent of change for 35 years, insinuating that Obama and his cries for change are just talk.
And Huckabee winning over Romney and Guiliani. I never really believed Guiliani could win a Republican nomination because of his past history of support for some socially liberal policies, such as gay rights and abortion. So would really not be surprised if he gets eliminated pretty quickly. Same with Romney. Although he likes to parade himself as a religious man with socially conservative views, most of the Republican base consists of Christian conservatives. Although its not fair to the man at all, most of these people will not be able to look past the fact that he is a Mormon, which they don't consider Christian, and he is from the Northeast. That leaves the race really between Thompson and Huckabee, which means there really isn't much of a race at all. Huckabee is everything the conservative base has been looking for, plus he is actually likable. Thompson may have the same views, but he is one of the most boring people I've seen in quite a while.
My prediction for the Republicans is Mike Huckabee and for the Democrats its Barak Obama. And overall, I think these are the two best candidates that could receive the nominations from their respective parties. Maybe not the two best candidates for America, but in our current system and state of affairs the best that can be hoped for.
